I Like To Call It… Planned Chaos

Let’s dive in, shall we?

One of the things I’ve been learning as I took the step to become a published author (did I say step? I think it would be more accurate to say I’m stumbling around blindly in the dark and more often than not I’m on my ass instead of standing firmly on my feet) is that, much like adulting, not many of us really know what we are doing.

Sure, there are those who have been around the block. Their shelves are lined with the trophies of dreams captured and books published, but for many newbies like myself, we are becoming best friends with Google, researching how the hell to get these books out and on our shelves (sure, your shelves too), and making moves while crying into the void and wondering how the hell we got here. Sitting on the floor, huddling our edited manuscripts to our chests, mascara running down our cheeks (when the hell did I even put that on?), trying to mentally will it to happen on its own.

This shit is HARD!

Whether you went the traditional publishing route and had to query endlessly, search for agents, and try not to bury yourself in all the rejection letters, or whether you went the Indie Author route and self published (don’t even get me started on my constant stress and anxiety), this is a hard road. We were fools to think writing the books would be the hardest part.

I guess I’m supposed to write something distinguished here. Dazzle you with my writing skills, wisdom, and compel you to read my book(s). We’re just getting to know one another and I should be catfishing you into believing I got it all together and this ride you’ve just been buckled into will be seamless and full of nothing but a good time.

*Laughs manically until I start crying*

My writing style is planned chaos. It’s anarchy from start to finish but somehow I come out the other side of it all with a book in my hands you will hopefully enjoy.

I hope you’ll all follow along. Laugh with me, yell at me when I make you frustrated, then cry with me because, hey, that was kind of rude. Most importantly, read with me!
