This book follows a mother daughter duo: Melas and Zura.
They are found in the Black Woods with no memories and are taken in by a Berserker, Incubus, and Vampire who hope to protect them from whoever is hunting them and help them figure out who and what they are.
This is the first in the Seven Realms books and it was really fun for me to write. I began writing it at a time when I felt I lost touch with my creative self. I just had a daughter of my own and couldn’t access that part of me anymore. Between feedings, sleepless nights, and endless days, I felt like the person with a passion for writing who couldn’t keep a story from constantly unravelling in her mind had been replaced by this woman whose only purpose was being a mom.
If I’m being completely honest, I wasn’t prepared to lose such a big part of myself and it left me feeling really depressed. The thought that I wasted all those creative years, stacks of drafts and manuscripts I never did anything with and maybe never would taunted me and left me feeling hollow.
It came to me one night, what if there was a woman who lost every bit of herself and all that existed was this fierceness that came with being a mom? Outside of her daughter, nothing else existed, parts of her that were there before just completely hidden away in darkness. What would that look like if you ADDED MAGIC?
I’ll tell you what it looks like. It looks like I relit the flame of my creativity and published my first book!
